Burn Ban

If you live in Botetourt County, there is a burn ban in effect from February 15th until April 30th when there is no open-air burning allowed except between 4pm and midnight. Please contact Botetourt County Dispatch at (540) 473-8631 with any questions and to let them know you will be burning and provide your address. Stay with your fire until completely extinguished.

If you live in Roanoke County, there is no open-air burning allowed without a permit. In order to burn, you must get a permit from the Fire Marshal’s office (available Monday through Friday). Contact Roanoke County Dispatch to get in touch with the Fire Marshal at (540) 562-3265. There will be no burning from May through September due to poor air quality concerns during summer months.

For any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Read Mountain Fire and Rescue at 977-5881.
