Read Mountain Fire & Rescue Department - Company 12 proudly protects 7000 people living in an area of 32 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Read
Mountain Fire & Rescue was established in 1991 in a joint effort by
Botetourt and Roanoke Counties to serve portions of SW Botetourt County
and East Roanoke County. Since that time Read Mountain Volunteers have
served the community's needs in cases of vehicle accidents, commercial
and residential fires, and a variety of other emergency situations. In
1992 Read Mountain Fire & Rescue implemented a First Responder
Program; providing patients Basic Life Support (BLS) and stabilization
until an ambulance arrived to provide transport. In 1993 we upgraded
our First Responder Program to Advanced Life Support (ALS); enabling
Shock Trauma Technicians, Cardiac Technicians, and Paramedics to use
ALS skills critical to many patients. To further enchance our patient
care and service to the community, in 1997 we researched, planned, and
implemented ambulance transport service. Read Mountain Fire &
Rescue remains steadfast in our commitment to the community to provide
quality fire protection and emergency medical care. Continuing this
progress, Read Mountain has added one new pumper and one new ambulance
to its fleet, giving the public more protection and services. We raise
funds by door-to-door, letters, and activities at the station and through
local business's. Read Mountain Fire and Rescue does not solict by telephone,
nor do we recieve any assitance from them. |
